Adani Power Limited has acquired Korba Power Limited (KPL, earlier known as Lanco Amarkantak Power Limited) as a part of a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process under the aegis of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. KPL operates a 600 MW coal-fired power plant under Phase-I at Korba in Chhattisgarh. It is also expanding its capacity by an additional 1,320 MW under its Phase-II expansion project.

Subsequent to the acquisition by APL, the capacity of the Korba power plant is to be further expanded by setting up 2x800 MW (1600 MW) capacity based on Ultra-supercritical technology under the Phase-III Expansion Project. This will take the combined capacity of the power plant to 3520 MW upon completion of Phase-III. Ordering of main plant equipment for the Phase-III projects has commenced.
